Can Chiropractic Help Kids and Ear Infections?

Chiropractic adjustments allow for proper alignment of the cranium and the vertebrae in the neck, reduce accompanying muscle spasms, allow lymph drainage, and restore the proper nerve supply needed for optimum functioning of the structures in the head and neck, including the ear canal. Subluxations, or misalignments of the spine, may reduce the healing capacity of the body. Chiropractic adjustments may allow the body to self-heal by allowing full expression of the nervous system, which controls many of the bodily functions.

What is Spinal Manipulation?

Of course we still practice traditional spinal manipulation or adjustment. Some injuries can be best treated with an adjustment, other times, decompression is the best option. After examination, your chiropractor will know which of the 26 movable bones (held together by hundreds of small ligaments, muscle fibers and tendons) need adjusting.

If you have never had an adjustment, don’t worry. It’s quick, and mostly painless. It sounds worse than it is. Remember, your chiropractor spent years learning how to functionally assess and care for the spine – so relax and let them do it. After a chiropractic adjustment, most people report instant relief or reduction of pain, tension and stiffness in their spine. The increased spinal range of motion that follows an adjustment allows for increased spinal flexibility. Because the joints are moving more freely, the stress on muscles is reduced, they are able to work more efficiently and become less irritated.

What is Therapeutic Ultrasound?

Did you know sound waves can heal your body? The Therapeutic Ultrasound technique is often added to your treatment before an adjustment to relax the muscles that are too tight around a joint. Using ultrasound waves releases the tension around the muscle and allows the doctor to make an effective adjustment.

ABC News said: Ultrasound can also be helpful in acute injuries for non-thermal effects, meaning no heat is generated, but it can help increase blood flow so that way inflammation or swelling can be reduced.

What is Electronic Muscle Stimulation?

When you come into our chiropractic clinic, we may recommend Electronic Muscle Stimulation. Like Ultrasound, (EMS) may be used during your treatment to relax the muscles that are too tight to allow an effective adjustment.

Electronic Muscle Stimulation is designed to painlessly fatigue the tight muscles surrounding a joint through multiple twitches per second (depending on the settings). This is not painful, however, patients report these twitches as tingling sensations as the muscles contract involuntarily. The rapid muscle contractions have an analgesic effect. After a 20-minute session with either of these therapies patients report decreased resting muscle tension and improved mobility in fixated areas of the spine.

Is Chiropractic Safe For Kids?

We all want to be “good parents”. And we all try to do the right thing when we bring up our children. Why do millions of parents bring their children to Doctors of Chiropractic every year? Is it only for highly dramatic health conditions? Is it only for when their child is hurting? Not at all! These parents know the benefit of a functioning spine.

Chiropractic’s purpose is to remove interferences to the natural healing power running through the body. When that power is unleashed the healing that results may be profound.

Today we find more parents bringing their children to chiropractors for day-to-day health concerns we’re all familiar with: colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, colic, asthma, tonsillitis, allergies, bed-wetting, infections, pains, falls, stomach-aches, and the hundred and one little and big things children go through as they grow up.
