1. An informed patient is the foundation of spinal health restoration. |

Lumbar Spinal Decompression is typically utilized in the treatment of bulging disc of the lumbar spine. The patient is fitted with a specially designed harness system that works with the decompression device to reduce pressure on a damaged disc by gently distracting adjacent vertebrae. By adjusting the angle of distraction, placement of the harness and weight setting specific discs can be targeted.
A series of sessions is rendered over a six week period. Each session is 30 minutes in duration. The majority of patients report absolutely no pain during a therapeutic decompression of the spine. Many patients report a sensation of deep stretching that they feel most pronounced at the moment they stand up for the first time after the decompression. While there may be some restrictions placed on lifting and specific exercises during the series of treatments, most patients are able to continue with their normal activities and are not required to miss any time from work.
Similar in concept, the Saunders 3-D Active Trac allows for Spinal Decompression of the cervical spine (neck). A 15-minute therapy that slowly and gently separates the vertebrae of the neck. The device is able to target specific segments of the neck to reduce pressure on the joints and disc(s).
The treatment is painless and very effective at providing long term pain relief for patients that have had neck pain that has not responded to other conservative therapies.
Chiropractic treatment of the spine is a time-honored and safe method of restoring proper motion to the spine. Human spines are highly complex structures with 26 movable bones held together by hundreds of small ligaments, muscle fibers and tendons. When these segments are not moving properly the result is pain, limited function and ultimately arthritic changes.
Chiropractors spend years learning how to functionally assess and care for the spine. Chiropractic adjustments are delivered to segments that are hypo-mobile (show limited range of motion) for the purpose of restoring proper motion to the individual segments. After a chiropractic adjustment, most people report instant relief or reduction of pain, tension and stiffness in their spine. The increased spinal range of motion that follows an adjustment allows for increased spinal flexibility. Because the joints are moving more freely, the stress on muscles is reduced, they are able to work more efficiently and become less irritated.
The Therapeutic Ultrasound technique is often added to an adjustment to relax the muscles that are too tight around a joint to allow an effective adjustment.
Ultrasound is designed to provide a deep heating effect beneath the skin which encourages blood circulation and relaxation. Ultrasound is completely painless and the most you can expect to feel is a slight warmth.
The Therapeutic Ultrasound technique is often added to an adjustment to relax the muscles that are too tight around a joint to allow an effective adjustment.
Electronic Muscle Stimulation is designed to painlessly fatigue the tight muscles surrounding a joint through multiple twitches per second (depending on the settings). Patients report these twitches as tingling sensations as the muscles contract involuntarily. The rapid muscle contractions have an analgesic effect. After a 20-minute session with either of these therapies patients report decreased resting muscle tension and improved mobility in fixated areas of the spine.
Why do millions of parents bring their children to Doctors of Chiropractic every year? Is it only for highly dramatic health conditions? Is it only for when my child is hurting? Not at all!!
Chiropractic's purpose is to remove interferences to the natural healing power running through the body. When that power is unleashed the healing that results may be profound.
Today we find more parents bringing their children to chiropractors for day-to-day health concerns we're all familiar with: colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, colic, asthma, tonsillitis, allergies, bed-wetting, infections, pains, falls, stomach-aches, and the hundred and one little and big things children go through as they grow up.
